Case study - Argos Graduate Recruitment
Background
Argos is the UK's leading general merchandise retailer. The business is expanding and this has resulted in increased headcount at both the head office and throughout the retail chain. It was recognised that the company needed to take on significant numbers of high calibre graduates to support this growth.
Issue
- Stretched in-house HR resource and internal processing systems, meant that Argos could not complete the goal of having in place new graduates within a three month time frame.
Solution
Argos asked Red22 to manage all aspects of the graduate assessment and recruitment process from handling applications through to providing a shortlist of high calibre candidates for final selection. This included: all response handling associated with applications, development of appropriate selection and assessment criteria for new graduates and graduates with experience, initial selection of applications, telephone interviewing and information gathering, face to face competency interviewing and psychometric testing, candidate communication and information provision, status reporting of application and assessment process, final summary on each recommended candidate and organisation of Argos final selection administration.
Throughout the entire process there was regular communication and feedback with head office HR and all candidates.
Result
The process has proven to be highly successful with all graduate vacancies filled within a 3 month time frame. Argos has also gained a reputation for efficiency amongst graduates which heightens desirability as a place to work and encourages applications from high calibre graduates. The internal HR team has had time to focus on other areas of the business whilst being secure in the knowledge that their graduate recruitment has been successfully completed. |
